Work days calculator

260, 261 or 262. Which one depends on the year.

A year holds 260, 261 or 262 weekdays: 365 days is 52 whole weeks plus one spare day, and a leap year leaves two. 2026 has 261. Pick a year and you get the total along with a month by month breakdown; switch modes and the same arithmetic counts the business days between any two dates. Public holidays are not built in, because they differ by country and often by region. You enter your own, and only the ones landing on a working day are deducted.

How it works

How it works

Two modes, three decisions, one number.

  • Pick a year or two dates

Year mode answers how many work days a given year holds. The other mode counts the days from a start date to an end date, both included.

  • Set your working week

Monday to Friday is the default. Untick a day, or tick Saturday, if your week runs differently.

  • Add the holidays that apply to you

You enter the dates. Only those inside the period and on a working day come off the total, so a holiday falling on a Sunday changes nothing.

Why it helps

Why this one

Three things business day calculators tend to get wrong.

  • No invented holiday list

A built-in list is right for one country and quietly wrong for everyone else. This one asks you instead. That costs a minute and produces a number you can defend.

  • The working week is not fixed at five days

Six-day weeks, four-day weeks and Friday to Saturday weekends all exist. Tick the days you actually work and the count follows.

  • Both ends of the period are counted

Monday to Friday of the same week is five days. Calculators that measure the gap between two dates instead of the days themselves return four, and on an invoice nobody notices.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many work days are in a year?

A year has 260, 261 or 262 work days, counting Monday to Friday and before public holidays. 2026 has 261, 2027 has 261 and 2028 has 260. The number moves because 365 days is 52 weeks plus one spare day, and a leap year leaves two. Whether those spare days land on a weekday is what decides it.

How many weekdays are in a year?

The same figure: 261 in 2026. Weekday and work day mean the same thing here, Monday to Friday, before any holiday is taken off. Only the wording differs.

How many work days are in a month?

Between 20 and 23. A 28 day February always has exactly 20, because that is four whole weeks. A 31 day month reaches 23 when it starts on a Monday, a Tuesday or a Wednesday. In 2026 February is the shortest at 20, and July and December are the longest at 23.

How do I count business days between two dates?

Switch the calculator to the second mode and enter both dates. Every day from the first to the last is counted, both ends included, and the days you did not tick as working days are removed.

Why are public holidays not included automatically?

Because a built-in list would be wrong for most visitors without saying so. Holidays differ by country, in Germany by federal state, and several move every year. You enter the dates that apply to you, and only those falling on a working day inside the period are deducted.

How many work days are left this year?

Use the second mode with today as the start date and 31 December as the end date. The answer changes every day, which is why it is not printed here as a fixed number.

Counting the days is the easy part

Knowing what happened on them is harder. Worktivity records time, tasks and applications while people work, then turns the month into timesheets and project cost reports you can approve. The calculator above tells you how many days were available. The product tells you where they went.
