Go to Workspace settings, open Integrations, choose monday.com and select Connect. Approve the access on monday.com's screen, then link the monday.com boards you want to Worktivity projects. The items of each linked board appear as tasks in its Worktivity project.

What you need

You need the Owner or Co-owner role. Your plan must include integrations (Trial, Growth or Pro). On Starter the monday.com card shows an upgrade prompt instead of the Connect button, and anyone who is not an owner sees a note to ask the workspace owner.

How do I connect monday.com?

  1. Open Workspace settings, then Integrations.
  2. On the monday.com card, select Connect.
  3. Sign in to monday.com if asked and approve the access.
  4. You return to Worktivity and the connection appears under Your connections.

One connection covers one monday.com account.

How do I link a monday.com board to a project?

Open the connection with Manage. The list shows regular boards, named as board (workspace). Sub-item boards and documents do not appear. Select Connect board next to a board. You have two choices:

  • Create a new project. The name is suggested from the board name. You can also pick a customer, which is optional.
  • Use an existing project. Pick a project from your workspace.

The items of the board arrive in that Worktivity project as tasks, and Worktivity updates them regularly. To start a sync yourself, open the connection and select Sync now.

How are monday.com people matched to Worktivity employees?

monday.com people are matched to your employees by email address, so you do not have to match them one by one. If a person cannot be matched, or the same email belongs to more than one employee, the person is marked Needs review and you match them by hand under People. Guests may not share an email address at all.

What comes over from monday.com, and what does not?

  • monday.com items arrive in the linked Worktivity project as tasks, with the item name as the title.
  • The status comes from the first status column: an item whose label means done becomes completed. The due date comes from the first date column (the day only), and the assignees from the first people column (teams are skipped).
  • There is no description, priority or sub-items: Worktivity does not read them.
  • Items that are already done when Worktivity first sees them are not imported.
  • An item that is archived or deleted in monday.com is not marked completed in Worktivity. The task stays as it was.
  • Importing only reads: your monday.com items and boards are never changed.
  • The one thing Worktivity can send back is tracked time, and only if you turn on Write time back.

Can Worktivity write tracked time back to monday.com?

Yes, if you turn on Write time back on the connection. It is off by default and only time tracked after you turn it on is sent. monday.com does not let other apps fill its time tracking column, so Worktivity adds one update on the matching item per person per item per day, after the day is over. In the worst case it appears about 2 hours and 15 minutes after the day ends. Time that arrives after that day has been written is not added.

The update reads like "Name tracked 1h 20m in Worktivity on 14 Oct", with the name of the person who worked and never their email address. It is written by the account that made the connection, not by the person who did the work. Worktivity only adds updates: it never changes or deletes anything else in monday.com, and an update that was written is not edited later.

How do I disconnect monday.com?

Open the connection and select Disconnect. Syncing stops and the access Worktivity holds is deleted. Tasks that were already synced and your people mappings stay in Worktivity. To be sure the access ends on their side too, remove Worktivity from the apps you have authorized in monday.com.
