I was invited to Worktivity, what happens now?

What the first sign in looks like, what your employer can see, and what the desktop app asks for before it records anything.

An invitation gives you an account inside somebody else's organization. This page covers the first hour: the link, the app, and what the organization can see afterwards.

Accept the invitation

  1. Open the email titled You have an invitation and press Accept invitation.
  2. The page names the organization and the team you were invited to. Your name and email address are already filled in.
  3. Choose a password of at least six characters and create the account.

If the page says the invitation is no longer valid, the link was used, cancelled, or is older than seven days. Ask the person who invited you for a new one; nothing on your side revives it.

If you already had a Worktivity account with that address there is nothing to accept. You are added straight away and the organization appears in the workspace menu the next time you sign in.

Nothing is tracked yet

Signing in puts you on My activities, which is empty on the first day. The browser records nothing. Recording happens in the desktop app on the computer you work on, and which desktop app to install depends on that computer.

The first shift

Before it records anything, the app shows what your organization collects and waits. The list is built from your organization's own settings, so it names only what is actually collected: screenshots and how often, the application and website in front of you, and the idle threshold. Accept and clock in starts the shift. Cancel collects nothing and does not start it. The question comes back whenever your organization changes those settings, because accepting one set of rules is not accepting another.

Starting and stopping a shift covers the buttons themselves.

Who sees what

Your administrators, and the managers of the team you belong to, can open your records. What a record contains is a fixed list and it is written down: what Worktivity collects and what it does not.

Your first name, last name and email belong to your account. An administrator cannot change them once you have signed up; you change them yourself, from your profile.

Three screens are optional and appear in your sidebar only if your organization turns them on: your own screenshots, your own timelapse videos and your own timesheet. My activities is always there.
