Why is an insights screen missing from my menu?
Each entry under Insights has its own condition: a role, a module that has to be on, a list that has to exist, or a plan capability.
- Web
The Insights group is drawn for owners, co-owners and managers, and only once you are inside an organization. An employee account does not see the group at all. Inside the group, four entries carry an extra condition.
Always there for those roles
- Work times, Productivity, Apps summary and Advanced insights are in the menu whenever the group is.
Conditional entries
- Task insights needs Task tracking on under Workspace settings, Tracking, Modules. Without the module nobody picks a task, so the report has no rows. What is in task insights covers the screen.
- Work notes needs at least one work note defined under Workspace settings, Tracking. This is a content condition, not a switch: with no notes there is nothing to group by. What the work note reports show covers the screen.
- Productivity coach is drawn for owners and co-owners only.
Conditions that are not about the menu
- Advanced insights is in the menu for everyone in the group, but the section itself is a plan capability. Without it the screen shows a locked panel with a link to the plans. What trends, heatmap and comparison are for explains the three sections.
- Export as xlsx is also a plan capability. The button stays visible and says why it is off, rather than failing when pressed.
Typing the address does not widen anything
Reaching a screen directly does not change what comes back. The server narrows every insights request to what the account may see: a manager gets their own team, an employee gets themselves. The filter boxes follow the same line, which is why the team box only appears for owners and co-owners.
The project and task filters follow the Task tracking module too, and the task box only fills in after a project is picked.
If you belong to more than one workspace, every condition above is read from the workspace you are currently in: your role there, its modules, its work notes and its plan. Switch workspace from the sidebar and the menu is redrawn for the new one.
